Purpose

Pachamama House is run as a not-for-profit community resource centre and an incubator for people and groups working for social change. Pachamama House is a coworking and shared community space that exists to support the progressive and radical activist community of Newcastle to grow and flourish.

Pachamama (or Earth Mother) Rising!

This slogan captures the core purpose of Pachamama House: to support the development of a diverse and resilient social system which mirrors those traits in nature. Specifically, to strengthen this culture within the Newcastle community to contribute to a transformation of society towards one that respects and protects our mother.


Values

A deep green respect for the earth:

  • Practices and activities that are frugal and avoid environmental harm.
  • Projects and campaigns that seek to prevent further harm to our planet.
  • Projects and campaigns that seek to reconnect people to nature and each other.

Social equality, diversity and inclusivity:

  • We embrace diversity and go to extra efforts to accommodate the needs of diverse groups.


Art, music and creativity:

  • The beauty and expression that enriches life, inspires and brings people together.


Social and personal wellbeing and care:

  • Activities and projects that nurture physical, psychological and spiritual well-being, individually and collectively – because happy and well humans are essential to a happy and sustainable society.


Objectives

  • To support activism for social and environmental justice in Newcastle and beyond.
  • To support a resilient, diverse and thriving progressive community in Newcastle.
  • To provide a high-functioning, harmonious and friendly coworking space for a variety of organisations and individuals.
  • To provide functional and attractive spaces for hire for community activities: including meetings, workshops, film screenings, presentations, and small gatherings or parties in the courtyard.
  • To allow community groups aligning with the values of Pachamama House have discounted access to these spaces.
  • To cover running costs of the property to enable the sustainability of the project.


Pachamama House is run on a not-for-profit basis by a team of volunteers.
